In this project, I created a matte painting using Photoshop and AI-generated sketches. The guidelines given to us was to begin by sketching in AI to establish a composition, after which we had to carefully select the exact images we wanted to use. A minimum of five images was required—one of which had to be a building, and at least one had to be a background image.
We were divided into groups based on architectural form types, and I was assigned round shapes. I chose a landscape set in the Norwegian fjords, specifically in the Lofoten region, featuring dramatic mountains in the background and stormy waters in the foreground. To incorporate an architectural element, I used AI to reinterpret the Ribbon Chapel in Japan, allowing me to introduce flowing, organic shapes into the scene.
The goal was to blend the various images seamlessly and create a realistic yet interesting imagined environment where nature and architecture work in harmony.

The building I used as inspiration in this project was the Ribbon Chapel in Hiroshima, Japan. To reinterpret its architectural essence and explore new design directions, I used AI with Krea Flux, generating concept visuals based on a custom image prompt I made together with ChatGPT.
This project was based around using AI in different ways. Starting with sketching in Krea Realtime and Firefly.
Sketches above made in Krea Realtime.
However I decided to work with a different composition at the end of the project.
